I'm doing this, are you?
Here is my block.
Paper pieced (center) star pattern designed by: Amy Friend at During Quiet Time.
Border and improv piecing added to make block "regulation" size
Material: various 100% cotton quilting fabrics, Kona white and charcoal (solids). I especially
LOVE the Robotics fabric from Birch in the star's center and the framed border. Captures the
whole astronaut, outer-space, celestial feel I was going for.
Thread: Aurifil, 100% Mako cotton, 50 wt in white
Want more information: check out NASA's post on the project.

While on the topic of Log Cabins
Even though I was sad to see my Round 8 X-factor pillow go, I decided I just wasn't finished with log cabins, so, I went a different route and decided on a 3-D effect.
I used various 100% cotton fabrics, and sewed them directly onto batting creating the log cabins as I went. The quilting was only done in the text print that separates the blocks. A fun pillow for the sofa and one that didn't get away!
Pillow resting comfortably on the sofa with other pillow friends…. |

January Bee Blocks
In between bigger projects, these colorful and fun blocks for January Bee-mates…...
For HoosierToni in the Always Bee Learning Bee. I LOVED all the greens she sent. The tutorial for this fun Spiderweb block (and a quarter) is here.
For Deb, Trio Stitch Studio, in the Jane Austen Bee and Book Club. She wanted aqua and yellows for a quilt she is making for her mom. The tutorial for these lovely, scrap busting blocks is here.
I have a few more blocks that will have to wait until the quilts are finished before I can post pictures. I can't wait to show you!
