STASHTACULAR week 3, MY week

Stashtacular

Week 3! Give yourselves a big old high-five!! I still can't believe all the great ideas flying around out there. It's really going to be hard picking a project from all the "mades" from all the tutorials and featuring that one lucky person on our blogs at the conclusion of this month long event. You guys are awesome. I'm inspired by all of you.

This week I get to host the give-away, on this Saturday,  I will giveaway a $25.00 gift certificate from 1choice4quilting , to one lucky winner. I have been waiting to give anything something away since the STASHTACULAR began. I guess there will be more stuff to give away at the conclusion of STASHTACULAR, it's the waiting that gets to me- but I have been patient and so now it's my time. (yay).

Week in brief (just since I can't wait)…….

Today: another great tutorial over at Blue Bird Sews. A re-usable shopping bag!
Tuesday: Jenna at Sew Happy Geek follows up with more awesome things to sew while busting your stash and she will treat us to some additional stash busting tutorials.
Wednesday: I will re-visit a much loved (by me that is) tutorial on a fun clothes pin keeper
Thursday: I get to further inspire you (I hope) into sewing a few more things for the laundry room with a mini tutorial and links to additional projects.
Friday: photo inspiration at Blue Bird Sews and Spontaneous Threads (that's me). Friday is also the very LAST day (USA) to mail in your scraps if you are participating in the scrap swap. (Details can be found over at the STASHTACULAR Flickr page, but you really must hurry).
Saturday: the give-away will be back here.

So, in order to be eligible for the giveaway in this, my week, you must leave me a comment on my blog on any day this week (Monday through Friday). You may let me know that you made Kelly's reusable shopping bag, or Jenna's tutorial but you must comment here. (It's the only way I can keep track). You may comment each day, but only once a day. You can comment on the STASHTACULAR, on the weather or tell me something about yourself so I can get to know you better. I'm thinking I might throw an additional something in to sweeten the pot for a comment that really makes me smile. At the end of the week (Saturday) I will pick a winner from all the comments and post that winner's name here on my blog on Saturday during the day. You will have to check back and see if it's you,( if you are a no-reply blogger), otherwise I will email you directly for your info. So, leave a comment and keep your fingers crossed!!!

  2. I am really enjoying Stashtacular! I got in on the action a little late, but am loving all of the new inspiration.

I seem to be raising a mini-fabric-hoarder. Each time I cut fabric, my 5 year old daughter is right next to me asking, "Can I have that piece? What about that one?" She sometimes makes collages with the scraps, but more often than not, they seem to disappear. Until yesterday, when I discovered a box in the bottom drawer of her dresser, filled with each teeny, tiny piece of fabric that she has collected over the past few months. So, my recent stash busting projects have fueled Caliana's love of fabric collecting :-)

  3. On June 1 I made a vow to not buy any fabric for one full year (or until prices came back down lol). I didn't like the new spring summer fabrics so it was no big deal. But now the deep fall and winter fabrics are out and I'm actually breaking out in a sweat lol. VermontPines@aol.com

  4. I could use another shopping bag. Will have to put that on the list.
About me...well I live in Boston (weather here has been nasty!) and I drive a scooter. On Saturday I got pulled over. Not the first time I ever got pulled over, but the first on my scooter and it was so embarrassing! Stupid me projected my speed and the distance wrong for a turn and cut off an undercover cop in a pickup. Oops. I really appreciated all of the gawkers in the cars and the pedestrians that stopped to watch the show. That made me feel better about the situation. NOT! At least I got off with a warning even if I lost a little of my dignity.
    Thanks for the giveaway.

  6. Stashtacular is such a neat idea! I didn't think I could commit to not buying fabric for a month so I decided to just watch from the sidelines, but I think I actually haven't bought anything since it started. Whoops! :D

  10. Funny what you stumble upon. About me: I'm almost 38 weeks pregnant with boy #3 and hoping to come up with inspiration for his baby blanket. So far- lots of ideas (I drool over fabric) but little motivation. From the 4 corners region and there are little to no fabric options here. Internet to the rescue! I'm enjoying going through your blog. hurst_maggie @ yahoo.com

  15. I know, without a doubt, that I could not go a month without snooping through at least ONE remnant bin. I have a fabric addiction, I know, but it's non-fattening, chemical-free, and has never caused me to say inappropriate things to police officers, so I'm okay with that.

  16. I need to win a giveaway, as I can't buy fabric. I've resorted to buying stamping supplies, which are cheaper than fabric, but then you just spend more to get up to the fabric values.

  17. How funny that you should use the clothes pin tutorial for stashtactular! I was just thinking the other day that I needed to find it so that I could make me one :) Already have the rope, now just need to pick which fabric to use.

I had to stop at the local quilt shop yesterday to buy the Heat~N~Bond for my wristlet. While there the clerk tried to get me to purchase some fabric that was on clearance! Ha! Fat chance! I told her that I could not purchase Any fabric,as I had taken a pledge not to. LOL! She tried to persuade me anyway, but all I walked out with was the Heat~N~Bond :)

    Come on August First!!!

  20. Last week I did a major rearrange (of fabric) in my sewing room. I took all my cottons which I had been storing in large plastic bins (think 77 quart size) and stacked them on open shelves. I was amazed at what I have. I can also see why I could never find any orange, purple or yellow and I always seemed to use blue in my projects. The blues took up nearly half the shelf! My husband is building me a ribbon holder so I can sort my ribbons. I organized my lace bin, putting all the too small pieces in a separate box so I won't discover in the middle of a project that I don't have enough lace to finish!
When I'm away from my machine I'm crocheting a bag made out of plastic bag strips. It's not real fun, plastic bags aren't the easiest thing to crochet but it's a great conversation starter. Have a fun day.

  22. This has been a *perfect* month for Stashtacular! We have had 1 day in July under 100 degrees, so I have no desire to pile all the kids into the hot car, walk across the hot parking lot, and listen to 3 hot and sweaty kids whine while I look at fabric. And since we have pretty much barricaded ourselves inside, I have gotten to use up quite a bit of my hoarded fabric. So thank you for the motivation, inspiration and way to avoid perspiration! ;-)

  28. These projects have been great. Must be a lot of work for you ladies! I started working on Jenna's little pouch last night, can't wait to finish that. I'm going to put my new camera in it! I haven't bought any fabric in about 3 months, it's not because I don't want too, it's because I don't have the extra money to spend. I don't have a huge stash, just one smallish bin. I could probably go the whole rest of the year with out buying fabric...Thanks for all the great stuff and the giveaway!!

  29. Yay! I mail my fabric today! However, now I have to mail a check so I can pay for my own postage because the post office lady said that I could not buy return postage for things over 2 ounces.
